Another trip to Georgia...
Again, I have failed another goal to update my blog. I've actually given up and just accepted that I will never be good at this. It doesn't help that I only have two followers!
Back in August, I took a wonderful and quiet trip to Northern Georgia with a good friend who lives outside of Atlanta. She picked me up from the airport and the rest is history! Here's how this trip went down..
Blue Ridge, GA. - Sleepy town, but surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the Blue Ridge Mountain chain, one of my most favorite. Only second to the Rockies in my opinion. Exciting, huh?! This is downtown! Had an AMAZING meal at a restaurant downtown called Harvest... highly recommended.
We took a trip down the Blue Ridge railway, which I would imagine to be stunning during leaf changing season in October/November. It goes from Blue Ridge, GA to McCaysville, GA/Copperhill, TN. Very sleepy place, had trouble finding things to do & buy.
I must say, the highlight of this trip was almost losing my arm white water rafting the Ocoee River. Yes, ya heard right. Here are a couple of pictures from our death-defying experience. Definitely the toughest river yet.
On to some hiking... we checked out Amicalola Falls State Park... such a beautiful treasure on the far side of the Blue Ridge. It was an easy hike with a beautiful waterfall at the end. Kinda like the cherry on top of a mediocre pie.
Then over to Helen, GA which I think is HYSTERICAL to look at. Such a cute, Germantown, almost corny and enjoyable at the same time. Had a meal at a restaurant overlooking the Chattahoochee River.
Best part about Helen, GA... ANA RUBY FALLS!!
Beautiful, moderate hike to a beautiful waterfall. Confession: I expected more, but settled for less.
Can you believe we went from Blue Ridge to Amicalola Falls State Park then to Helen, then all the way south of Atlanta to Covington, GA all in less than 12 hours???
Next stop: went went all the way back down to the home of Hollywood of the South. Yes, I introduced Paula to our favorite T.V. show, The Vampire Dairies filming location. She is the one that introduced me to the show, so I felt it necessary for us to conclude our trip in Covington. She lives an hour away from this city and has never visited!
I am still completely SOLD on this town. It's beautiful, quiet, and it has a freakin' town square! Who doesn't want to live in a city with a town square!?!
We became big fans of Square Perk Cafe, a wonderful eatery/coffee shop on the square. Owner was so amazing and helpful with celebrity sightings and filming info. Of course they weren't filming when we were there, but we made up for it with other fun. We also did the Vampire Stalkers tour, this was my second time, but you really get to the amazing set locations and have your picture taken in front of all the great homes.

The hardest part will be waiting until my Caribbean cruise in December for my next vacay... until then. Peace!
