Packing for Alaska

If you know me at all, you know that I'm an avid packer. I take pride in my packing abilities (more like over-packing abilities). No one should be surprised that I'm already preparing for my most long awaited vacation. I have been without a trip for SIX MONTHS to make this trip happen.
I've posted before on my medicine bag, but I wanted to show the parts just one more time. I've learned over the last few trips just the items I would need. I've narrowed it down and have kept most items from the last post. I highly suggest always having a medicine kit when you are not going to be near drug stores. You can always stop to get cough syrups, etc because that's difficult to travel with.

Yes, this is embarrassing. One month prior to sailing, clothes have been selected and are hanging. This helps me to eliminate excess and see the quantity better than laying outfits on the bed (old method).

Here she is... it's a Mary Kay bag that I refurbished into my travel medicine kit.

Now let's take a look inside... here are the necessities:

Tums & Pepto, cuz... you know why.

IB Profen & Aleve, Extra Strength Tylenol (I use small jewelry bags from Michael's to avoid using larger medicine bottles - even travel size medicine bottles can be heavy).

Zrytec... this is one of the most used item in my medicine kit.

This is the second most used item in the bag: Benadryl. Lovingly called Uncle Ben. LOVE to treat myself to a night of good sleep or if I'm stuffy, this does the trick.

When taking a cruise, this is a must need. I went a little overboard (no pun intended), but I like options. Bonine & Dramamine and the Dramamine liquid vs tablet. Cuz I'm a nurse and I like options.

Another important item to always have is a first aid kit. I rigged mine up a bit with extra alcohol pads and band aids. If you are on a blood thinner, I would suggest gauze and various sized band aids.

The creams are a MUST. I know this from first hand experience (unfortunately). I ran into a nasty skin rash in Dominica years ago... my olive skin didn't get along with the lush rain forests... needless to say, this is a MUST.

If you are prone to cold sores especially with travel like I am, this is a must. When I travel and experience drastic temperature changes, it is just a matter of time. This is my extra tube that lives in my travel bag. You live, you learn.

That's it for now, hopefully I will show a glimpse into my packing as the trip gets closer. My goal is to have everything in 1 suitcase, but let's not get crazy. :)
