Blue Ridge Parkway
Another dream trip... accomplished! I've been to the Asheville, NC area twice and have been on the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville up to Boone. I always said "I want to drive this sucker from start to finish!". Well, I finally did! We flew into Spartanburg, SC and drove to Hendersonville, NC. Love this little city! We began our adventure first thing the next morning. Gotta love North Carolina October weather & color!
Day One... We started by taking interstate from Hendersonville to Cherokee to hop on the Parkway. This is technically the "end" of the Parkway, but we chose to start here and end in Virginia. Cherokee to Boone with a long lunch stop at Pisgah Inn. We also did some shopping in my favorite town - Blowing Rock. I picture growing old in this town! I absolutely love everything about the charm of this place. The best shopping in all of NC! (Except for A Day In the Country in Hendersonville!).
Day Two... Boone to Waynesboro, VA. this was a little disappointing. We wanted to be welcomed at milemarker 0 with balloons, a drink, and confetti. What a disappointment! We actually continued onto the Skyline Drive just because we were so let down. I'm sure a lot of people start at this Virginia point, but we happened to end here and then make the long drive back to Hendersonville.
Here are a few pictures of the trip.
The highest peak...
The end........... where are my balloons?!
